Teresa Spix is a fourth year graduate student in the Gittis Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. Her work explores the functional implications of stimulation on different cell types within the basal ganglia in optogenetic and electrical paradigms. Using slice electrophysiology, she is currently examining the effects of deep brain stimulation parameters on multiple cell types in the GPe and the implications for treatment of motor deficits in Parkinson’s disease.
