Dr.Douglas Weberis an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh with secondary appointments in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology, and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. He recently completed a 4-year term as a Program Manager in the Biological Technologies Office (BTO) at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Virginia, where he created and managed a portfolio of neurotechnology programs, including DARPA’s Hand Proprioception and Touch Interfaces (HAPTIX), Electrical Prescriptions (ElectRx), and Targeted Neuroplasticity Training (TNT) programs.
Dr. Weber completed his undergraduate studies as a Presidential Scholar at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, earning a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He continued his academics with a Graduate Academic Scholarship at the Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, finishing both his MS and PhD in Bioengineering. Dr. Weber received a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Rehabilitation Neuroscience from the University of Alberta, Centre for Neuroscience, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Dr. Weber is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, the American Physiological Society, and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He holds 8 issued patents and has 1 pending patent applications.
